After betraying his friend Amir felt guiltiness and was highly ashamed. Every moment he would see Hassan was more painful so he decided to give up their  friendship. It was the last time he saw Hassan as the war began,  Russia invaded Afghanistan and Amir and his father fled to the United states. For Amir it was a new life where he would forget the past, forget Hassan and think more about the future. His father did not adapt well even after the two years they passed in America.
