Chapter four.
- Amir and Hassan's were childhood's playmates (page10).
- Hassan and Amir didn't share religion and affiliation to the same tribe.
- A strong tie bound them as they grew up together.
- After school Amir read stories for Hassan.
- Hassan didn't go to school due to his tribe affiliation, the Hazara tribe.
- From Hassan encouragement Amir begin to write his story.
- Besides his father, Hassan and Rahim Khan (the father's friend ) loved his first story.
3. End of the Afghan monarchy (page 14-15).
- The day his father and Rahim Khan went out, fighting began.
- Amir and Hassan found protection in Ali, Hassan's father.
- The fighting took the whole night and ceased the morning.
- Amir's father returned home after worried for their security.
- The first republic was established.
- The morning, they went to their tree to read story and forget.
- they are intercepted by, Assef a bully who hated Hassan for being Hazara.
- Hassan, despite his fear confronted Assef and his mates with a slingshot.
- Assef is helpless and resign.
5. Hassan birthday (page 18-20)
- Baba, Amir's father has a present for Hassan.
- Hassan meets Dr. Kumar a plastic surgeon.
- Dr. Kumar operates Hassan removing the birth scar on his mouth.

In these chapter we discover the tight bound that relates Hassan and Amir. It also mention the tribal conflict that existed between Pashtun and Hazara which may be source of a dramatic event in the future.
